Captain Varrot instructs all Squad leaders to take a break following the Fouzen operation to recuperate and restore morale. When Rosie is asked by Squad 7 to represent them in a talent contest, she refuses to do so and storms out in anger. When she meets Isara, Rosie tells her that armed Darcsen guerrillas came to take shelter in her home during the First Europan War to hide from Imperial soldiers when she was a child.
